Charles Palmer, who was just 20 at the time, was not asked to autograph the picture. (Charles Palmer (1930-2001) OBE and 10th dan black belt, was a Judo Instructor, President of the Budokwai (Europe's oldest judo club), President of the British Judo Association (1961–1985), President of the International Judo Federation (1965–1979) and Chairman of the British Olympic Association (1983–1988).
