IJF to Assess Chelyabinsk Readiness for World Championships Back

The representatives of the IJF will assess the readiness of Chelyabinsk city for the World Championships.
The visit of the IJF representatives in Chelyabinsk will take three days. They will assess the readiness of hotels, training base and the main venue for holding the World-2014. The delegation consists of Lisa Allan, Armen Bagdasarov, Claudiu Chimoiu, Danny Hicks, Valentin Habirov (the executive director of the Russian Judo Federation) and Nikolaj Pechenkin (the head of sports department of the RJF). The experts will visit local hotels for athletes, referees, coaches and media, and check the Yunost Sport Palace and Traktor Arena.
Tuesday, May 20, 2014 the delegation took part in meeting of the World-2014 organizing committee. The points of the discussion were design of the Traktor Arena, filming and broadcasting from the tournament, logistics and general organizational issues.
"There are some new ideas that will be realised. It’s my first time in Chelyabinsk and first meeting. I see how far the organizing committee has gone in preparations. The competitions will be held at the highest level, because we have the support of the Sports Ministry, governor's administration and Russian Judo Federation,” Lisa Allan says.
To recap, the World Judo Championships will be held August 25-31, 2014 in Chelyabinsk. The tickets will go on sale in June.
