With Isaev being unable to defend his title as he misses the Olympics, it’s about time that Ono takes credit of his reputation.

RIO 2016 OLYMPIC JUDO PREVIEW FOR U60KG MEN

The category U60 will be in action at 6 August, the opening day of the judo tournament. Previous edition was won by Arsen Galstyan (RUS), quite a surprise, but the competition has become more intense with a new generation judoka as many stepped up to U66kg or couldn’t hold their position. 2015 World Champion Yeldos Smetov of Kazakhstan could be the biggest favourite for the Olympic title. Smetov is seeded and may face Urozboev in the quarter finals. Smetov’s big rival could be both from Japan by means of Naohisa Takato, or from Korea presenting Kim Won-Jin.

2015 Tokyo Grand Slam Day 3 - 6 December

The third day of competition on the occasion of the 2015 Tokyo Grand Slam concluded a busy sports season. Four more Japanese athletes stepped on top of the podium, while the American Kayla HARRISON confirmed that she is the World number one in her weight category. The 2016 World Judo Tour will restart at the end of January with the opening event to be held in Havana Cuba.
