- Swedish Judo Clubs to receive the Koka Kids Junior Judo Magazine
The Koka Kids Junior Judo magazine, designed and edited by former world
champion, Nicola Fairbrother will now be read by young judoka across
Sweden.
The Swedish Judo Federation have decided to use the magazine as one of their
methods for introducing and motivating children to judo.
Johnny KULLENBERG, 6th Dan, president of the SWE judo Federation, EJU
Sports Director and former IJF Intercontinental Referee says "The best judo
magazine for children is led by the World Champion and Olympic Medalist
Nicola Fairbrother. Having an education in
journalism and vast experience in judo, Nicola has developed and found the
right way to present judo for most of our members in the federation: the
children."
Indeed Koka Kids is the first magazine in the world to be dedicated to
junior judo. Bright and colourful, it has been a dynamic leap from the many
black and white judo technique manuals that are out there. Koka Kids mixes
funky cartoon characters with spectacular professional action photography -
a style that is obviously a hit with it's 10,000
young readers.
Nicola
Fairbrother (left) says, "It is wonderful to see that the magazine is
being read in so many places and my thanks to Johnny and Daniel Lascau, in
particular for their hard work in promoting the magazine in Sweden. The
whole idea of the magazine is to get kids interested in their judo, create a
spark of enthusiasm that makes them love their judo and want to carry it on.
The more we get juniors involved from a very a young age, the more likely
they will stay in judo rather go to another sport or hobby"
Beginning with the Winter 06 issue, all judo clubs in Sweden will be
receiving two free copies of Koka Kids, three times a year, with an option
to buy additional copies for their members. For more information Swedish
members should contact the Swedish Judo Federation at
